I have a John Deere L110 riding mower and I am having problems with the battery. The last battery and now the new one have gone dead after a few days of use. The new one worked great when I first installed it so I figured my problem was solved. When I attempted to start it a few days later the battery was dead and needed to be jumped started.

Could this be a solenoid problem? If so, is it difficult to replace or do I need to take it to my local John Deere dealer to fix?

Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions.

Is it under warranty? I'd have them test the charging system...

You may want to make sure that you are turning the key completely off. Something left on could cause the battery to go dead.

I used to sell riding mowers, lots of times kids or adults would leave the headlights on and during daytime it's hard to detect if you should leave the headlights on, consequently the next morning you have a dead battery. Ave life of a mower battery depending on how you store it i.e. in a warm garage or a cold barn with no heat and how you use the mower is only about 2 or 3 years. I know you said you just bought the battery so you might have just left the lights on. You could have been sold a weak or defective battery also.
