I have a creaking and crackling in my walls. I don't know if it is the metal siding or if it is mice in the walls. What does it sound like when there are mice in the walls. I also thought about termites but I am not sure if they make this loud sound. Any help would be much appreciated.;)

You will not hear termites and mice will make scratching noises as will squirrels. Creaking siding will make noise when the sun hits it or strong wind.

My wife can hear Subterranean termites when they're about to swarm. I can't but she says it sounds like crunching corn flakes.

Cindy, if it was termites you should be seeing a few thousand tiny black bugs with transparent wings about now. When they land the wings will fall off and they go mate and find some wood. I hope you aren't.

The creaking sound my first instinct would be to attribute to a branch or fence rubbing. That could also account for cracking sounds.

Metal siding is notoriously noisy when warming up or cooling down. Creaking, squeaking, popping sounds are "normal" . Poor installations ( nails too tight ) are a common ingredient in the aggravation of this problem.
