My dryer won't spin and I smells like something is burning when I hold the button to try to start it This is a gas model mdg3000aww Is it the bearings? How do I take it apart to see the problem? From the front??

This site has diagrams of that model. It looks to me like the front comes off.

MDG3000AWW (http://www.appliance-parts-warehouse.com/maytag-parts/model_view_cats.cfm?model=MDG3000AWW)

They also show a wiring diagram.

They do show an owner's manual:

Maytag Manuals and Literature Search (http://www.maytag.com/support/manuals_literature.jsp)

Maytag Product Literature Search Results (http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search_results.jsp?searchTerm=mdg3000aww&siteCd=MT_EN_US)

ApplianceAid shows a service/repair manual for Maytag Neptune dryers:

I would imagine it is burning. Probably full of lint cemented against the sides of the air ducts. You have to totally tear it down and wash out all ducts. Buy a new belt so you won't have to replace it later and check all bearings which you grease with white lithium grease (high-temp). The belt could be broken or you may have an open safety fuse which opens when it gets so dirty it is a fire hazard. Driers used to be the number one cause of house fires in the US and the UK. They must be cleaned about once a year to remove all of this cemented on lint. You can see how it is done on YouTube, but make sure to wash out all the parts that you can and vacuum out the motor. This lint and dirt gets all in everything. I bet you get a five gallon bucket full of dirt out of it, which is usual. DrTom4444
