Please let me know how I can get the Casino withholding tax of 30% back if I am from Romania. Winnings in Hard Rock Casino. Thank you for helping me. Maybe you know a company working with foreigners on this matter.

Hello md:

You need to file a tax return. If you had gambling losses that out weigh what you won, your losses would be deductable, and you'd be eligible for a refund of the money that was withheld.

If not, you got to pay taxes on your winnings. I know, taxes are a bummer.

Thank you Excon, so you are saying that if they hold almost $5000 there is no way for me to get them back unless I can prove I spend to win?How I can prove that? Such a head pain

Hello again, md:

Lots of casinos give you cards that track your gambling so you can get comps and things. If you did that, there's a record of your losses at the casino.

The THEY you're talking about is the IRS, and they'll be happy to give it back if it's due. You just got to prove it.
