I see two "flower like" things at the two corners of the ceiling of my balcony. I wiped off one of them easily and the texture is dry and flaky. They weren't there when I last checked in February.

Does anyone know what they are? And, should I be worried that this is an indication of some other significant problems of my building (mold, water ingress etc.)?

I live in a high rise. It rains a lot in my area throughout the year so the humidity is pretty high. Many thanks for your help.

I think it sounds and looks like some kind of mold. I had some growing in my bathroom once. There was carpet in there. It looked different though. It looked like macaroni shells or something. I realized that the shower seal was coming off and water was getting the carpet wet. Maybe its from moisture.

Thanks Heather. Yeah I suspect that it's related to moisture, but I am not sure why it just grows on those two corners, and it grew so fast. I don't know if I should get some building inspector to see if there's water leakage inside the walls.

Thanks.

Just wanted to post an update. I got my building manager to look at it and he says that it's a bee hive... not sure if it's any better than mold. Cheers.
