I need to replace a noisy uP Fan on a Dell Dimension 8100 PC.

It is mounted on the back panel, no problem.

But it is covered by a large green air guide (vent pipe?) that curves 90 degrees from the back panel fan, to the motherboard.

I have looked and looked, and cannot see a way to remove this green cover to access the fan.

There are no clips or screws that I can see.

The green plastic cover seems to be floating over the heatsink, but seems rigidly affixed to the back panel somehow.

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO REMOVE THIS GREEN PLASTIC AIR CHANNEL?

Thanks...

The ones that I've seen (I don't know that I've seen your exact model) do have press-in tabs that attach it to the case.

Here's a Dell support document for that PC. Look under "Socketed Microprocessor" for pictures. It says:

"Remove the fan shroud by pressing its two tabs and gently lifting the shroud until it clears the fan and heat sink assemblies. Set the shroud aside."

Thanks Perito. I'll give it a try...
