Well I am in the mood for a scare your pants off. I can't sleep at night, what was that noise kind of movie.

Well give me your opinion; what was YOUR scariest movie?

Now don't give out the whole thing because I do want to go into a movie knowing what would happen next.

Let me know :)

Kujo always did it for me... nothing like a rabid dog. You need company don't you? I will hold you...

28 weeks (or days) Later was also a fairly scary movie to me. Not too many movies scare me anymore.

I'm really a fan of the old school Night of the Living Dead. The black and white one.

Cujo was a good one too, kc.

Quarantine
Descent

Yuck.

I don't like those Ring/Grudge types, but with Quarantine... wow... the whole "this could happen" adds a freaky element... blech...

If so, yes it was very good! Lol

Yup, it was the cave one.

Course, my experience with Descent was kind of swayed - I went in to Colossal Cave that day... WRONG MOVIE to watch prior to going into a cave!!

But, what can I say, my ex had a sadistic sense of humor...

Ooooh, I'm never going into a cave after that movie, let alone that day!!

I don't really get scared. But movies I find creepy are: The Ring and The Grudge. Weird looking things just kind of disturb me, not exactly scare me.

I love movies with good story lines. This one happens to be good and gross- The Saw series is amazing. I love it. There may be people who don't like it like me, but I do like be some stomach churning gore with a nice snack to go along with it. :)

Cujo, got me, it was the first scary movie I had watched... and of course we had a german shephard that reminded me of Cujo, so I was scared for a long time... course I was about 9-10. :o

My next scary movie was 'It' and I watched it in the basement of my mother's house. By the time the clown made his second appearance I was backed up against a wall across the room with both hands spread out against the wall, hoping that would keep the clown from attacking from behind. I was about 14 then. :o

Other then those and 'The Shining', my list of scary movies is pretty short.

But I WILL NOT watch scary movies alone.

Quentin Terantino is one of the best.

Anyway, how about:

The new Jason Movie, Last house on the left?(the old one has a part that would make any guy cringe), Black Christmas, Sometimes they come back, Haunting in Connecticut, Hostel.

I can't think of any more off the top of my head!

I saw "Haunting in Connecticut" last week. It's pretty good.

A couple that really scared me (and I don't scare easily) were
Jeepers Creepers and Jeepers Creepers II. I liked the first one better,
But the second one also got the heart pounding. Anything that won't

How was it?

mudweiser
May 11, 2009, 07:55 AM
how was it?

In short it was predictable.

Matthew McConaughey seems to be stuck with horribly scripted cliché chick films.

In my opinion on a scale of 1-10 I would give it a 6.

It was the whole "I'm a single and loving it- oh wake up and realize that I'm actually lonely".

Alfie was a lot better than this...

Eck and please Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner DO NOT make a good couple-- even if it's fake... it looks odd-- it's like fitting a 4 prong plug in a two prong outlet... just doesn't work...

The movies in the old days were more scarier.

They need to make a movie, or maybe we need to make it.

But they need to have a movie that is the scariest. Not goriest, but scariest. The kind of movie that gives you goose bumps and makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck and make you jump every 3 seconds, not just because the music changes and makes you jump. Something that will keep every light on in your house for days while you can't even close your eyes because you are afraid of dying. Something that will about make you piss your pants because you get so scared.

Anybody feel me?

Exactly Bear. Someone always lives and ends up killing the killer and the cops come. That is not allowed in my movie. I want everybody to expect that and then bam the girl who lives at the end is all of a sudded grabbed by the killer he cuts her arms off, stabs her repeatadly and then cuts her arms off and throws the body in front of a semi then kills the semi driver.

Not really going to put it into the movie that way but you get my drift.

Dawn of the dead... I don't think anybody lived in that movie... zombies kind of rules the earth... now that freaks me out because it could happen...

I get freaked out by the new age zombies from 20 days/weeks later and dawn of the dead... not resident evil.. reason being, I could run away from the resident evil zombies, they are slow... but in Dawn of the Dead.. damn they are quick!

So Adam, is your movie going to be more freaky or more gory or more jumpy? Lots if blood and guts, or just freaky things popping out and killing people. Wow... I've seen too many horror movies. Too bad my partner doesn't like horror at all :(

Lol and agree with your thinking, and fast zombies are scary, one tiny detail though, and I know I'm being pedantic but in the 28 days/months later films they're not technically dead (as they can starve to death), which for me is an essential qualification you need to be a zombie :D

lol and agree with your thinking, and fast zombies are scary, one tiny detail though, and i know im being pedantic but in the 28 days/months later films theyre not technically dead (as they can starve to death), which for me is an essential qualification you need to be a zombie :D

Haha... true true... OK then... lol... looks like you really know your stuff... :)

I agree... they weren't really dead... yet... not like in the other shows...

Have you seen a movie called Zombie Stripper? Lol! That's a funny one about a bunch of strippers who become zombies. Quite stupid, looks like a b'grade movie and not scary, but worth a laugh. Lol

"Shutter" (2008) with Joshua Jackson and Rachael Taylor was a wonderful - and very creepy - movie about spirit photos or "The Strangers" (2008) with Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman is a great choice. It's one of those, creepy-because-it-really-could-happen movies. Also, if you're interested in serial killer stories "Ted Bundy" (2002)... there are several movies about him, but the version with Michael Reiley Burke skeeved me out so bad I couldn't sleep for a week and I STILL have to check under the bed before I go to sleep! Hope this gives you some ideas!

Hmmm reviews don't look all that great for it... but o well, might check it out sometime when it comes out on DVD... lol

Been watching the Supernatural series on TV with my sisters. They like the actors in it, but I think the stories are pretty cool, and some of the scary stuff is all right too...

Yeah the reviews aren't that warm to it but as my flat mate kept on telling me 'you only want to go and see it because of the name', which is true :D

Yea I watch supernatural too on the odd occasion, I like the horror and creatures but I've been long lost on the story

Haha... yeah well, if the movie was called "Vampire killers"... then hmmm... maybe wouldn't see it, but the "Lesbian" part makes it more... Interesting... lol ;)

I watch it all the time, sisters are infactuated with those guys, but anyway, I get the story too. Its not the typical horror story. Think Buffy, just with 2 brothers instead of 1 chick, and more demons and ghosts than Vampires... but its also quite educational too... learn some interesting facts about all these weird freaky things...

Haha... well, if Lesbian Vampire Killers is anything like Zombie Strippers, it will be funny... lol

Yeah the teaching thing is cool... like it teaches about all sorts of stuff, like yesterday I saw an episode on death echos and stuff... Interesting how when a person dies and their death was shocking and sudden, they could have a death echo where the spirit is stuck in a loop of their death over and over again, and someone has to shock you out of it if possible, so u can stop dying all the time as a spirit. Lol!

This is an older but good movie starring Nick Nolte, Ewan McGregor, Patricia Arquette and Josh Brolin, before they became big! IT is called Nightwatch! Ewan goes to work in a morgue, it is older probably about 1985- A MUST SEE!

Are you talking mainstream horror or kind of off the wall I've never heard of it horror?

Mainstream- The Ring (I'm sorry I know it's cliché, but that girl climbing out of the TV freaked me out for WEEKS. I couldn't sleep without my TV covered.)

Non-mainstream- I recently watched a sort of B-movie horror film, simply for the fact that Danny Trejo (whom I adore) had a very brief part in it (I was disappointed with his brief role, but THRILLED with the movie). Anyway it's a 2007 film that mostly has non-descript actors with the exception of Jake Busey (Identity, Tomcats), called Death Row. VERY scary.

Not horror horror but a good story;

Hide & Seek

Saw (the first one, rest of the sequels seem to be going downhill)

Saw this when I was in my teens and never again will I look at a doll the same way. :O
Child's Play (1988)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chucky_%28Child%27s_Play%29

Ju-On (the grudge)
The Ring (Japanese version)
Shutter
The_Godsend
Dark Water (Chinese )

Children of the Corn was scary when I watched it in my teens, still gives me the creeps because they are children.

Enjoyable horrors were many of the Tales from the Crypt episodes.

I liked 1408 too.

Megan F is hot. Decent movie. Wouldn't waste my money on going to the theater though..

Hotness scale from 1-10 it would be a 9.5 because A) Megan Fox B) The lesbian little makeout session C) The cute boys

Scary level: 4, it didn't make me jump or pee myself or keep me up at night.

Quarantine and The Exorcist, the first one with Linda Blair.

I'm a sucker for zombie-ish "it-started-out-as-an-infection" kind of thing, makes me feel like I'm in the film, like thinking of what I'd do if I was in that situation.

As for the Exorcist, I guess it's the only film where they show a scary thing in broad daylight, no annoying shadows to hide the demon's face and all.

Threads is without a doubt the scariest film ever... not a horror though.

I've been a hardened horror fan for 28 years now, and nothings scared me as much as that, except maybe for watching Dawn of the Dead at the age of 5!

Other than that, the creepiest films for me are
Candyman
Halloween (the original)
The Ring (Japanese version)
The Excorcist
Rosemary's Baby
TCM (the original)

And the sickest/goriest are
Nekromantik
Cannibal Holocaust
Day of the Dead
Salo
And finally take your pick from any of the new breed of torture movies (Hostel 1&2, Wolf Creek, Frontieres etc)
