I have a bathroom in the basement the toilet has an ejector pump. Recently it seems the there is a continuous humming sound from the ejector pump, si I unplugged it. At this time I do not have any water usgae and I am not using the basement bathroom. What seems to be the problem? Does the ejector pump need to be replaced? I tried up-plugging and re-plubbing the power, but as soon as I plug the power cord back in the humming sounds returns. Any helps is welcome.

One of two things is happening. Either your pump is stuck on, or your pump is froze up. IF its stuck on, you will most likely only need to replace the float switch. If the pump is froze up, I wouldn't use any water in the basement, as it will overflow from the pump pit. I would start by removing the pit cover, and let us know what the level or water is.
