View Full Version : What could this mean?

I am a 40+ year old female. In the last 4 years, 5 of my immediate family members passed away. I have dealt with it well I believe. Probably because I still have my husband and child with me. Anyway this is kind of long so I hope you will be kind enough to read it. And thanks to all who does.

I have never been very superstitious all though a lot of the older people in my family were and is. I am a christian though and do not believe that people come back from the dead. But I do believe that people seeking to talk to a loved one may get to experience evil spirits that are demonic and pretending to be our family. I am only stating my beliefs though and am open to hear of others beliefs and understandings.

We live in an old house that my husband finished remodeling about 2 1/2 years ago. We stayed in the new part of the house while he finished the old part. Anyway as I said 2 1/2 years ago we moved all our things back into the old part that was basically new including walls and doors. We were straightened out pretty quickly. I stopped working however back in 2004 while still in the process of waiting for remodeling to be finished. I am disabled and have rheumatoid arthritis and back degeneration. I stay in pain most of the time. I am able to do quite a bit and I am not bedridden. But I have days I hurt more than others as anyone with these problems understand.

I lye down sometimes for a nap or just to rest and I also sleep in the same bed when bed time comes. Anyway my bedroom door stays open most of the time and when I lye down on my left side I can see the outside facing of the door. Now about 2 months ago after being back in my bedroom for over 2 years I look at the door as I am sure I do regularly without even thinking about it, and there is this face that I have never seen/noticed before. It is a wood door with the grain that swirls around like those doors do. So I can understand my mind letting me make out a picture out of the grain. What I don't understand is why just now when all I did is just glance at the door as usual. And this picture being so significant right away.

The picture made me think of the "grim reaper" as soon as I saw it. I later tried to take a good look at it and actually thought it looks like my grandmother that died in June 2008. She was 94. But the hood is still on the head like I saw it the first time. Not JUST like her but a little bit like her.

Anyway my husband and daughter never took it serious just laughed and said it was there all along. My husband and daughter can both see the face on my side of the bed when I show them. The picture cannot be seen if you are lying on my husband's side of the bed although you can see that side of the door even better. It is just that the face is more clear at the angle on my side of the bed.

Has anyone experienced anything like this. If you have please tell me what you think and your opinion of what it could be. Even if you think it is just my imagination running away with me.

Thanks

I don't think you are crazy, and I don't think this is a laughing matter. You seem to be under a great deal of stress, with a continuous life of physical pain and frequent emotional blows in the past years.

It is not uncommon for people to perceive shapes or images that resemble a lost loved one, or some sort of sign. You have your belief structure, and I am in no position to tell you that it is right or wrong. I think you should consider that you are under a lot of emotional strain right now, though, and focus on how you can alleviate some of that.

Are you on medications or some kind of treatment for your physical pain? If so, be sure to stick to your prescriptions. I think you would do well to seek a counselor, if you can afford one without the cost causing even more emotional stress ;) Just because you ask for help does NOT mean you are crazy or weak-minded. In fact, showing that you desire to seek help to improve your life shows strength and determination!

Don't focus on if you think it is real or not. Focus on why you are perceiving these images, and I think you will find you solutions faster :)

Thank you Tee for your answer. It is very encouraging. I know I could use counseling but have been in it before without a lot of change. However, I do take medication for the RA and the back pain. I take some heavy medications (prescribed). They usually help my pain unless I am going through a flair.

I also take antidepressants that I know keep me at least from going "over the bend". Anyway thanks for your answer and I am looking for other people's opinions too.

I'm going to apply a logical approach to this one. Have you ever tried to find one of those hidden images? Once you find it, you see it right away every time. Is it possible that it is that? If it bothers you so much, I would seriously consider painting the door even though the wood grain sounds beautiful.

If it gives you undue stress it defeats the purpose.

After that if you see the "grim reaper" come through well... maybe try something more metaphysical

Hi Meredith,

Thanks for the suggestion. Actually it doesn't bother me anymore. What had bothered me was how long it took to see it. You could be right about the hidden images. I don't even look at the image very much now. It is just like before I saw the face. Sometimes I notice it and sometimes I don't. Thanks again.
