My boyfriend an I bravely decided to install a stand alone shower into our new house a few months ago. We have ceramic tray and plastic surround.

It developed a leak a few months ago, we have checked all of the pipes none of which are leaking, we also checked the drainage which is fine. It seems to be leaking from where the surround sits on the top of the tray (I hope that makes sense) We have tried re-sealing it but a lot of water is still coming out. We are considering buying a new surround as we are wondering if the plastic at the bottom is not keeping the water in. Please see the pictures below as I am not very good at explaining these things! :o

This shows where the water seems to be leaking from, we think it is going down the edge of the waterproof board, which is sealed and then through our kitchen ceiling.

This one shows the rubber at the bottom of the door which we think may be the reason some of water is leaking out..?

This final one just showers the shower surround in case anyone notices we have missed a fundamental part of installing the shower properly!

Karen, It looks like it is leaking through shower enclosure, maybe even where glass meets the frame. This appears to be the Home Depot type enclosure. They ask you to seal all seams with silicone caulk. It is imperetive all seams are sealed properly - and allowed to cure at least 72 hours.

You cannot just "reseal" over existing caulk. You will have to peal off the old one and clean all residue. Then, you have to seal with silicone caulk.
