What happens when hydrochloric acid is mixed with barium chloride?

Actually, I don't think anything will happen -- except that the barium chloride will dissolve in the water that is present in the hydrochloric acid solution. The barium chloride will ionize like other salts do
BaCl_2 \rightleftharpoons Ba^{+2} + 2 Cl^-
The chloride from the hydrochloric acid will force the equilibrium to the left.
Hydrochloric acid also ionizes
HCl \rightleftharpoons H^+ + Cl^-
