Can anyone tell me if it is safe to download abiwords to my windows vista computer? I had Microsoft word, but it was only a 60 day trial, and now I have nothing to write letters on :(. Please help :).

I *highly* recommend OpenOffice: OpenOffice.org - The Free and Open Productivity Suite (http://www.openoffice.org/)

But to answer your question: yes Abiword is safe to download and install: AbiWord (http://www.abisource.com/)

Are you sure you have nothing? Most new PCs include a copy of Microsoft Works which has a word processor similar to Word.

Thanks, I never thought to look :o. If I can't find it, then I'm going to call and ask why.

Thanks so much for responding. I'll check out Open Office :), but I spent good money for this lap top and one would think that it should have some where here to write . Thank you:)

If you're just trying to write a letter that's simple without lots of fancy formatting, etc. what's wrong with Wordpad? Assuming it still comes with Windows - it's come with everything through XP anyway.

Yep WordPad does come with Vista. Its not easy to find. But typiong Wordpad in the Search box will load it.
