I recently began talking to a woman at a local coffee shop who was recently getting over a relationship. We hit it offf pretty good-she stated that we should go out on a date.

As much as I wanted to, my instincts were saying no because I could tell that she was not truly over her relationship. She would text him, but at the same time say things were over between them.

I asked her if she would like to take things slower-she said that she would like that.

She e-mailed me her telephone number this past Saturday saying call her whenver I wanted to talk.

I attempted to call her Sunday and Monday-no answer. Wednesday she e-mails me saying that she was already dating someone else. She didn't think I was interested.

I found out from a friend at the café where we hung out that she is dating a 60 year-old man (she is 42).

I am now confused because I thought she really wanted to make a go of things.

Should I have moved things faster?

I think it was for the best. She clearly has dependency issues that would have made for a complicated dating life between the two of you. If she was in such a hurry to get into another relationship, it shows a huge red flag, in my book at least.

Sounds like she was keeping her options open, including you. If she's still not over her last relationship, it looks like you or the other guy is a rebound.

There's not much you could have done different, I think it's just a question of who she's more interested in. It turned out to be another man.

Accept her decision and move on.

You honored her wishes.I think that was the gentlemanly thing to do.
I would not have done anything different.

At 60 he is most likely in a good place financially, that may have been her reason for moving so fast with him.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet.

The guy with the most cash won, and obviously she didn't really want a serious relationship.

Thanks to you all for the replies.
Even though I know it was for the best that I did proceed as I did, I cannot help but wonder "what if"...

There was just "something" about her that I can't explain.
