I have an old laptop and find that it will not allow me to install any hardware at all. I have tried loading my digital camera, additional USB ports and now a wireless pcmcia card. Each time, the software is able to be loaded but the computer won't load the hardware. Is there anything I can do?

What operating system is installed on the laptop? I suspect it's something that existed before USB ports were invented. On the other hand, that doesn't make any sense. If the computer has USB ports, one would think there would be support for them. In any case, Right-click on "My Computer" and select "properties" and read the operating system and the amount of memory and post back.

You might have to reload the operating system and update it over the Internet to get it to function properly.
