Vitamins are necessary to maintain your body functions, they repair your cells, help your immune system and keep your body running right. To get the correct amount of vitamins and minerals you need to eat a healthy diet of fruits, veggies, and protein.

Many vitamins (usually B-complex) are broken down and used as co-efficients in the metobolic process. Cutting down on the sciencey talk - they're pretty important for processing energy in your body.
Aside from that, we don't live in a perfect world where we can get all our nutrients from every meal. Vitamins help contribute to the vital nutrients our food may lack.
