I am being sued by my previous employer as I have set up my own business in competition with him. I had no contract of employment or confidentiality caluses. What can I expect

If you never signed anything I don't think he has much of a legal stand.
It may depend on what the business is and if you stole some of his ideas, if his business was unique etc... IDK
But for you to just start a similar 'store' I think he would have had to make you sign a no compete.

What can I expect?Hello wiz:

An expensive case.

You probably will win, and you might get your legal expenses back. But, I don't know the details.

Hire a good lawyer.

This is often done by larger business who can lawyer you to death, happens all the time with owners of patients,
They may drag this on for years perhaps costing 10's of thousands of dollars in legal fee's.

What is the basis of their suit.
I would ask for it to be dismissed as harassment suit.
