:(I formatted a hardisk and followed the steps in formatting, I got a message after "pls wait while setup Initializes, scanning system registry...
Windows setup requires 7340032 bytes available
And it stops there. I got the same message for a new hardisk. What shall I do??

Can you please go over the steps you used to format the disk. Specifically with regard to the partitions you created.

I have seen this error when the HD is formatted with a different level of Windows (i.e. installing Win98 on a WinME formatted HD)
If you need a bootdisc for your version try bootdisk.com
(obscure, eh?)

By the loks of that message, id say you were installing from within windows. If at all possible, start the computer with a boot disk and format it from command prompt. Then run the windows installer from either a bootable CD if it is supported by your computer and the windows version you are installing, or from command line if the first option is not available. Usually installing a new version of windows from within windows isn't a very good idea.
