When I'm done placing the numbers in the General Journal to place them in the General Ledger, I don't know If you add or subtract numbers together from the general journal to general ledger.

You copy numbers from the journal to the ledger. I'm not quite sure what you're attempting to do -- by managerial they expect this to be an old, old subject. If it's been a while since you've had principles, you need to go back and review this.
You can go here - it's an accounting text online:
Principles of Accounting Chapter 2 (http://www.principlesofaccounting.com/chapter%202.htm#THE%20JOURNAL)
Go to the link to "journals" and start there, and it'll also lead right into posting from journals to ledgers. The same will work with t accounts, and for managerial I'm quite surprised you aren't just using t accounts.

Are you nuts? I had enough trouble coming up with an accounting-related article to write a one-page summary on.
Sorry, give me numbers any day, but research papers give me the shivers.
