My boyfriend was sentenced to five years in prison, after two years he was released on parole. His discharge date was Augest 12, 2008. He went on abscond for eight months. When he was arrested and brought back to his parole officer she extended his max date. Is she allowed to do that?

That she has authority to do that, I have no doubt.

No. His sentence cannot be changed by the PO. Hire a lawyer.

Hello again, chicken:

Upon second thought, I want you to understand that his time was automatically extended by the amount of time he was gone. He doesn't get credit for time on the run.

If that's what you're talking about, the PO didn't do that. State law did.

can a parolee get a passportHello Lucy:

Probably. A passport is only a form of identification. It doesn't come with any benefits or privileges. I wouldn't use it WHILE I was on parole, though.

The issue here, is after being gone for 8 months I am surprised he is not doing at least several months in jail.
