] have a gas wall heater. The pilot light blew out while I was vacuming the heater. I've follow the instructions for turing it off and back to pilot and pushed in the button. I cannot figure out how to light the pilot. The instructions are very difficult to see.
Thanks

Generally, you put the system in pilot mode.

Push the button and hold. This allows gas to flow to the pilot orifice. While holding the button, strike a match and move the lighted match to the pilot area. The pilot will light.

Keep holding the button for at least a minute or so, so the pilot warms the thermocouple safety device so that when you release the button the pilot stays on.

If the pilot stays on, move to the operate position.

I tried your suggestion and when I can get the pilot to light it almost goes out immediately even though I continue to push on the knob.
Any other advice. Thanks

It's basicall the same as this:

Home Tips : How to Relight a Gas Water Heater (http://www.hometips.com/home_probsolver/hps03/11_waterheat/hps_waterheat02.html)

When you initially press the button wait about a minute before trying to light it. After it is lit wait longer, say 2-3 minutes.

You may have to lightly sand the thermocouple, copper colored thing.
