I have a Nordyne ac/heating unit... The thermosat when I turn it on ,it comes on... you hear the outside come on but the fan doesn't come on... Im a single mother so men HELP:eek:

Yea well... I have some smarts but I'm not that damn smart... lol... Im sure I could fix it if somebody could tell me what it is...

Sounds like you may have a cooling relay bad.

Are you saying that outdoor unit comes on, but the blower in the furnace doesn't. Do you notice ice buildup on the ac pipes. Does the fan on the furnace come on when calling for heat. If you have a setting on the thermostat that says, on/auto, switch it to on and see if the blower inside comes on. Let us know what you find, and we will try our best to help.

The blower fan on the inside DOES come on... you can hear it click on the thermostat when I change it from heat to air or what not... you CAN hear the outside start up but the fan outside doesn't turn or start-up There is no ice... its been off for a few days

Ok, you either have a bad fan capacitor on the condensing unit. Or the fan motor on the condensing unit is bad.
First, turn off power to outside unit, then stick a screwdriver in to see if you can spin the fan blade by hand. Let us know how it turns,(freely, or is it stiff?)

The fan spins fine... I barely touched it and I tmoved...

Look for the capasior and see if it is swollen up

It is in the electric pannel of you outdoor unit.

Spin fan by hand while unit is running. If fan starts when boosted by hand, then I would say you have a bad capacitor. IF fan will still not run when boosted by hand, I'm guessing you have a bad motor(most likely the windings are burnt, since it spins freely, eliminating bearings) May be best to double check for correct voltage to fan motor before replacing motor.
