OK, so, a little bit of a heat wave for late April. I can't take it anymore. I want to turn on my A/C (after a few days in the 80's) and the condenser will not kick on.
I went outside and heard a low humming noise... nothing else. The fan was not turning. I gave the top of the unit a tap (where the fan is mounted) and the fan started turning, but at a very slow speed. No TOO slow, but not as fast as normal.
I do not think the condenser is working at all... I don't hear coolant moving through the lines. I checked the main breaker box (reset the breaker just to be sure) and checked the outside box.
Any ideas?
By the way... I shut the unit off at the thermostat and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. I turned it back on and it was doing the same thing, however, the condenser fan started on its own, but still very slow.
