I have a 3 year old Kenmore dishwasher. Recently my hot water heater went out and I did not know it. I had started the dishwasher, and since the dishwasher did not sense hot water, it began blinking. The cleaning light blinks green 7 times and then repeats. I found out later about the problem when I went downstairs into my basement and found it nearly flooded and have since replaced the hot water heater.
From what I have seen, there are different codes that one can manually enter to reset the dishwasher to start. I ran the hot water from the kitchen sink (as one site suggested I do first) and then I have tried, "normal wash" + "heated dry" 3 times (as one site indicated) and then five times as another suggested. However, neither site had information about my specific unit. I also tried "high temp wash" and "heated dry" 5 times. NONE of these work.
The control panel of my dishwasher contains the following:
Cycles:
Smart Wash
Pots And Pans
Normal Wash
China Gentle
Quick Rinse
Options:
High Temp Wash
Sani-Rinse
Heated Dry
Delay 2*4*6 hours
Cancel Drain
Start
Of course the service manual indicates (for darn near every problem) that it needs to be serviced. However, I have found on many sites that it's a 'self-fix" and could save a costly repair.
Any help would be appreciated.
