View Full Version : How do I plant my veggies

Hi to all,this is my first time growing veggies,I live in ottawa,canada and I would like to know how to plant veggies like tomatoes,cucumbers,peppers.etc.. when is the best time to plant them? And what should I do to start.. I don't want to do seeding,I would rather buy them grown already.thanks

Methinks you have a while to wait. I grew up in the Rochester NY area and now live near Chicago, and know that it's best to wait until nearly the end of May for planting seedlings at this latitude. Ask at a local nursery or greenhouse for info regarding your area.

Hi Canary, I live near Toronto and Wondergirl is right, traditionally May 24th weekend is planting time. You can buy starter plants in flats from Zellers, Walmart or garden centers. You must, however, have a prepared garden to put them in. Good topsoil, and be dedicated to nurturing them along until you get a good crop.
