I was charged with a theft charge for stealing money 15 years ago. Last year I had it expunged. I have done nothing bad involving theft or anything since 15 yrs ago.
Until a couple weeks ago. I was a t a tanning place and they have a lost and found. I was looking for an earing and I saw a ring and a bracelet I was sure was mine and I took them without telling the girl. Iwasnt really thinking but I thought they were mine and I figured since they are in the lost and found it would be okay. I think I am going to be charged with something cause I am sure they don't see it as okay since I didn't tell the girl that I thought they were mine. I also thing there might have been a camera. My question is if I get charged for this I want to try to get a diversion or something but I was wondering if the expungement from my crime 15 years ago will show up on this. Or did the expungement wipe it out so the lawers and court won't know anything about it. I was hoping this new one would like like a first time offense. I need your help?

Hello l:

You expungment only HIDES your record from the public. It CAN and will be used for an enhanced sentence if you are found guilty of the present charge.

I'd hire a lawyer, and plead NOT guilty.
