Well cowgirl, Maybe I am far off completely if I wasn't even knowing there was a different kind. Unless you meant shrooms or something.

I just want the ones everyone is getting this time a year, good 'ol edible mushrooms. Ya know?

Have you tried going to your local farmer's market? I have one here and they are fresh and delicious!

Wild mushrooms are so yummy. You just have to know which ones are safe and unsafe. Which is not easy to do.

When I worked out on the east coast at the restaurant the owner would go mushroom hunting and bring it back to use for making the most amazing mushroom sauces.

We were all happy, and Our tummys were too.

Well, I would have greenied you back but I guess You were greenied by me too closely.

Anyway, Yes shrooms are edible, but I mean the kind that doesn't make you trip. LOL.

Anyway, people sell them for about $40 a pound, and I was wanting to find some free ones. Haha

How to hunt mushrooms ? Quietly, as you don't want to scare them ;)

Best to get a good book for identifying them, don't want to try the wrong sort, could be very painful indeed.

Hey here is a list of deadly mushrooms.

Don't eat these mushrooms (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_deadly_fungi)

PSST. Some places it is illegal to pick things like flowers, fungi, fruit and basically disturb the area. So be careful I've gotten fined for picking flowers!

The potential hazards are deadly so go in very well prepared .
Arm yourself to the fullest with knowledge.
Mushroom gatherers are very experienced and it takes a lot of knowledge to be safe.
Mushrooms look different at certain times of the year,so what may look O.K ,could be not OK because the mushroom has not matured to be poisonous. It is not as easy as one would think!
If you are looking for a cool outdoor activity, try gardening. Its safer and the rewards are plentiful! :)

I saw this thread and I got an immediate image of Elmer Fudd, shotgun in hand, hunting cap perched on top of his head, stalking through the woods for mushrooms and Blowing them to bits.

:D :D :D
