My husband and I have been trying for almost 6mths to have a baby. Haven't had any luck yet :( I was only on the pill for 5mths then stopped so we could try to have a baby. Could I need fertility treatment? Could the pill have caused me to not get pregnant?

I don't think so but every woman is different. Fertility problems are usually diagnosed after a couples have been trying for 12 months to get pregnant and have not achieved a pregnancy. So I would not be so quick to jump the gun and think there's a problem.

Also are you periods regular? Do you have children currently? WHat are your ages? A fertility monitor may also be a wise investment, it will help you to target your most fertile days each cycle.

Sometimes getting pregnant just plain and simple takes time, which is so annoying when you are trying cause you want to be pregnant like yesterday. If this issue concerns you speak to your doc about it and see what recommendations they may have.

Good luck

Most healthy people who have never been on birth control try for up to a year or more to get pregnant before they do. You have only been trying for 6 months AND were on borth control for 5 months.

You know it can take up to a year to correct the hormonal balance disturbed by the pill.

When did you stop the pill? When did you start trying?

It's really too early to determine if you are infertile. Also, there are many other factors to be determined with infertility, including your husband, he has to have a normal and health sperm count. Many times it has nothing to do with the woman or the birth control method.

Have you seen your doctor regarding a prenatal check up?

I am 22 years old and my husband is 22. I have a 3 year old son from a past relationship but my husband has no kids or never had medical problems. I was on orthro tricylcen lo for 5mths and loved it but I just hope it didn't cause me any problems. I was on the pill from June 2008 to November 2008 and started right after I got off. We have intercourse at least 3 times every week but still nothing :(

Deidra what you have stated does not make any alarm bells sound. Did it take you long to get pregnant with your son? Its possible the timing is off and your not having sex on your most fertile days.

Yes! It does take some woman some time to get all the because out of their system. But if you are concerned then see your doc. But like I said before usually people try for a year, before they go and have any test run.

Good luck

I was 18 when I got pregnant with my first son and I didn't even find out I was pregnant until I was almost 7 months pregnant. Didn't show and I had my periods. I'm just going to assume that BC is still in my system

Actually, you did not have your period. A period, or menstruation, is shedding of the lining of the uterus due to non-fertilization of an ovum, you can't shed the lining of your uterus if you are pregnant. Most likely what happened to you was that you had a placenta previa. Meaning that the placenta was closer to the cervix than it is supposed to be, causing bleeding.

Since you are both 22 time is on your side. As previous posters have stated, it is totally normal to take up to 12 months to achieve a pregnancy.

Wait another six months. If there is no luck by then, see a doctor to ensure that you are ovulating and that your partners sperm is able to achieve a conception.

Five months on the pill will not prevent you from conceiving now.
