Hi, I was in an 8 year relationship. We lived together in MY home that I put a deposit on and was only one on title. During this relationship, he somehow used my old plates and ran up 407 bills, now amounting to over $20,000.00!! He has admitted in the court of Law, under Oath, that the 407 is HIS debt. I used the 407 maybe one time to go to a cousins wedding and I paid the bill. He worked from home and I never got the bills as they came in. Calls started coming to the house, but again, I had no idea until I accidentally picked up a call. I questioned him and he became irate and told me not to worry. LONG story short, I am now legally responsible for this debt. I am a single mother of 2 children and he has managed to clean out their university money for me to hire a lawyer. He is coming after me for $50,000.oo enrichment even though he has cost me over $75,000.00. The 407 does NOT care that they have photos with HIS company on the van with MY plate. They do not care that he managed to sign a Transponder lease Application with MY name, address, Licence # BUT NOT MY SIGNATURE!! He brought someone to impersonate me to authorize it. I have been to numerous MPP's and no one will help me. I went to the Police and Fraud Dept and NO ONE will help me and I am on the verge of losing my home... AGAIN. I only make $30,000.00 a year, have ALWAYS paid my taxes (unlike him), never had an outstanding bill since he has been gone. I am a hard working mother and I need someone to come forth and help me. Doesn't anyone do Pro-Bono any more? I can't afford the legal fees and this con artist is going to get a way with this. He has destroyed my teenaged children and they are the real victims here. I simply want him to clear my name from the 407 (since he has admitted to it) and leave me alone. I have told him and his lawyer that I will waive my rights to spousal and child support if he does take responsibility for the debt HE created. He also signed MY name on cheques to my credit line and NO one cares.

Can any one help me here?

I am desperate and have had nothing but doors slam in my face!

Alone and scared.

From what I have seen the 'free appointed' lawyers often sound more in favor of the opposing side working against you.
They say what goes around comes around and often the only justice you get to see is years later when somebody does them wrong.
I have been taken advantage of for years trying to help others and the only real consolation I have is that I know I have learned a lot on how to deal with others and be a stronger person.
I really doubt he is going to grow a conscience or not do these things again to somebody else.
You have to be strong and move on and find the best way to move on.
I know it is hard. I learned that I am better off by myself because all people did was mess my life up.

Were you married to him or just playing house? How can you waive "spousal and child support" if you only lived with him for 8 years? Are these teenagers you speak about his children?

Where did you get the $75,000 from in the first place to pay for stuff for him? Or the "that he's cost me"? If you only make $30,000 a year. Does not add up.

You say he is "coming after you for $50,000 enrichment". Is there a lawsuit to this effect that he has filed against you?

No, we were not married, we were common law. The children are from my first and only marriage. The $75,000.00 was monies that I took out of the equity of MY home (NOT his), for him. Too long of a story to tell here. But I have legal documents to support everything and yes, there is a lawsuit going on.

As for waiving my rights, we were common law and my children loved him and looked up to him and according to the Ontario family Law, I am entitled to both. I want NOTHING from him other than to take hid debt and clear my name. I paid for all his financial damage through the sale of my home already.

I have an excellent case against him, just not the funds to go after him in court.

Then borrow the funds or make payments to a lawyer. Otherwise you're out of gas.
