I need to declare bankruptcy and would like to know whether there are special clauses protecting me as a registered disabled person in Canada, i.e. whether my personal possessions and other items I own such as a car, furniture, piano, art materials (piano and art materials are used to earn a living) can be taken away from me? I am also unemployed due to an operation I had a year ago and from which I have been recovering. In other words, do disabled people have a special status when they have no one to support them?
Thank you

Each province has legislation that outlines what possessions are statutorily exempt. The exempt goods are usually some amount of clothing, household goods, equity in a motor vehicle, tools of the trade, etc. Everyone gets these exemptions including disabled people. These exemptions apply in bankruptcy. Check with the provincial govt's web site to see the exemptions in your province.
