I'm a Finance student poised to graduate in May of next year (2010). Upon graduation, I'm planning on starting an offshore bank in a tax haven such as Panama. I've done my research extensively on offshore jurisdictions but of course, there are many scams on the internet that claim to give you a "banking license" and what not for a few grand but in return you get forged letters and seals and no financial institution at all. Currently I'm in talks with legal representative (not a real lawyer) with Panama Legal, an alleged Panamanian law firm. He has been very helpful with demystifying all the rumors and scams out there.

Does anyone know of any reputable firms in which to establish an offshore corporation/company? I'm currently looking at Offshore Banking, Private Banking, Offshore Corporation, Second Passport and Asset Protection - Panama Legal Law Firm (http://www.panamalaw.org/) as a possible choice.

*Note: Most people think of offshore companies as nothing more than a sophisticated way to avoid taxes. That is NOT the point here. I don't plan on living in America for long after I graduate, but I don't want to wait until I leave (which won't be for a few years) to start my company. So therefore, it would be offshore. So please don't post responses about tax evasion or anything of the sort*

Thank you. I graduated when I was 17 in June and went straight into college by July. I go to a school with one of those "accelerated" programs, where rather than getting your Associates in 2 years, you get in a year and a half. And for bachelors, rather than getting it in four years you get in 3 (and some odd months depending on the student).
