How hard is it to replace a rear main seal in a Mazda 626 2.5L?! I THINK, I need to either pull the trans or the engine to get to it, correct? Sounds like a pretty big job. I can do stuff like replace the alternator, timing belt, breaks. I am just thinking that this might be out of my league!

Access is the problem, as always. I recommend that you have it professionally done by Mazda. Let them assess whether it really needs to be done.

Well considering that the car is leaking about a qt a day from the seal, I am pretty sure it needs to be done! :) But thanks for the advice about going to Mazda. I am just short on cash right now and I assume it will cost me about $500+ to get it done at the dealership.
I heard there were products that could be put in your oil that will cause the seal to swell up and might correct the problem. A) how safe are they? B) What are they? And C) I bet my problem is so bad that it would not matter...

Stay away from all sealer products. They usually do more harm than good. You may want to check out AutoRx online and see if it might help.
