It's driving me CRAZY that I can't remember the title to this movie, and Google is no help. A boy meets, is initially scared by (I think--at least I was scared), and then befriends this huge purple (?) dragon/dinosaur creature. They fly around, have adventures. Can't remember the ending. Doesn't anyone else remember this? I feel like it was huge at the time, but I just keep getting blank stares when I ask people. Many many thanks in advance!

Pete's Dragon, that's it! I have been trying to get this for ages. There was an ice cream (in South Africa) that had the movie as a theme on it's tubs, can anyone remember who that ice cream manufacturer was?
