My fan was working fine last winter. When I returned from the South, the remote would not cause the fan or light to operate. I replaced the batteries in the remote to no avail. My guess would be either the receiver or the transmitter has failed. But I don't know how to check it. Any ideas?

Is the transmitter lighting up?

Yes, the remote seems to work fine. The fan was not used all winter long, as the house was not occupied, just as it has not been since the fan's installation in Nov. of 2001

Double check to make sure no breaker has accidentally been tripped, make sure there is power to the circuit before you do anything else.

Probably a bad receiver. Contact the manufacturer for replacement parts.
