I took off an old tub spout to replace it - it was then that I discovered that it was a 2" inlet.... No one seems to selll these anymore... any suggestions on where to find one? I reall don't care what it looks like as long as it is functional- we are going to re-do the bathroom someday and will replace the pipes when we do that.
Thanks,
Dana

2" pipe mystery

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

O.K. Tom,
I got the pipe cap off and it appears that there is a 1" pipe coming out of the wall. It looks like there is a huge nut screwed onto that pipe and behind the nut (I think they are connected) are the threads that the tub spout screwed onto. Is that a nipple? I can not, for the life of me, get that nut to come off- any thoughts on loosening rusted and ancient pipes? I am guessing that If I got that off I could put a new spout onto the 1" pipe - might need an adapter? I don't know!! Help!
Peace- Dana

Hi Dana,

You're not tellng me that when you unscrewed the tub spout that it was attached to a 2" diameter nipple are you?

" No one seems to selll these anymore." i don't think anybody ever sold them.
Most tub spouts are 1/2" inlets with a few 3/4" but n all mjy years I've never ran into a 2" one. What am I missing here? Regards, Tom
