Artlady gave me the idea to start a thread about everyone's art.

I don't care if you post a masterpiece or stick figures, it's all art!

Any medium, from pencil to digital to photography.

Don't be shy now.. get creative and share it with the world :)

Okies, well here's a bit of a taste of mine...

I'm working on a website at the moment, I have a fair few pics on there but I'm still working out the kinks :)

Portraits and Paintings by Sharyl Sward (http://www.geocities.com/sharylsward)

I would love to learn how to do proper 3D modelling but I think I'm doomed to just being able to make wonky spheres lol :D

And no Artlady, not everyone can do graphic art! I can't get my head around it! Lol :D

I've never really considered myself that 'artsy' until the past year or so when I did a painting for my mum then a friend saw it and got me to do one for her and it just spiralled from there...

I came very close to failing art in high school. My teacher just didn't like what I did so that's what put me off originally.

I went to your site and I love your work. You have an awesome talent.
Clough ,I believe may be able to help you with promoting your site.I have seen some wonderfully talented artists get overlooked because they did not sell their site by advertising on line for free.
If you can get your page to pop up when people link to Google asking for custom dog painting, then your in business!
I wish you the best ,you deserve it !

Teachers ,smeachers, they try to pigeonhole you and get everyone to follow the same path.
That to me is not what art is all about.
I have heard many famous actor's were told by their drama teachers. you will never make it is the biz. Just goes to show you.

Thanks Sarah :)

I think all of my teachers were actually from the moon or something.
Years ago in my Social Studies class my friend and I were just being silly and wrote a theory of how Osama Bin Laden was from outer space... We had a proper essay but handed that one in just to be funny... We got an A+ for creativity lol
The teaching system is weird.

Very true that!

The only thing I did in art class in year 12 that my teacher liked was I got an old violin, cut a dolls head in half and stuck it to the bottom of it... I then dripped wax over it to make it look like the doll was melting into it and painted it purple... It even creeped me out and I made it but he loved it.

My artwork has occasionally been in my avatars. I am a stained glass artist (in my spare time lately !). Working as a Personal Support Worker means not much 'spare'. I do pretty big pieces though, usually commission only; fan lights, door lights (the windows on each side of doors) and windows in doors. Sometimes a client will only want a huge panel to hang in a lovely window.

Keep an eye on my avvy for my artwork. The one to the left is called 'man in the moon'.

Sydney is very pretty, or at least I think so but I'm biased.

Jared is in that awkward stage, not a kid anymore, not quite a teen, kind of growing into himself. I think he's a very handsome kid, but again, I'm biased.

This is my inventive artwork. I call it

"Deal with it"

I live and have for 17 years in a zero lot line home. (which means no side yards to your home.) My neighbors house on one side is in my yard and my house on the other side is in my neighbors yard.

I made make shift windows and door separately and hung like pictures (but really short screws) on the neighbors house to make it look like it was my shed.

Most people who come to visit think it is my shed.

The screws are not long and the neighbor didn't mind, but the neighbor wouldn't see it either way, because where we live all yards have to be fenced in. So this neighbor can not ever see her side of this house. If she needs to paint they need to check with us.

Weird huh?

And no Artlady, not everyone can do graphic art! I can't get my head around it! lol :D

I've never really considered myself that 'artsy' until the past year or so when I did a painting for my mum then a friend saw it and got me to do one for her and it just spiralled from there...

I came very close to failing art in high school. My teacher just didn't like what I did so that's what put me off originally.

Wow, what a shame! Bad teacher, bad teacher! Believe me, you ARE artsy. Not like the pseudo art that I do. :)

I told you not everyone can do art on a computer!!!! lol :D

HEY! I like this... alot. The poodle especially. I could not do it. It came to my attention, a few years ago, that my "artistic ability" came in the form of decorating and design. That is why I stage homes to sell and do interior redesign on rooms. For years, I thought I was a completely talent-less person. Little did I realize, I had this hidden one.

If I am not being creative in some way, I start to get irritable. I used to do visuals for a dept. store in Pa. called Strawbridge. They tied my hands behind my back because corporate would dictate exactly what and how they wanted something to look. I didn't get to flex my creative muscle near enough to my satisfaction. I eventually quit. Creation makes my world go round. Even God liked the creative process. Hummmmm, interesting...

For instance, I don't really like to cook, or go to parties, but I LOVE to set up for that party. Make a beautiful table scape, concentrate on a theme, or have a color palate to work with. I like this part much more than the actual party.

I am really sorry to hear about your troubles. It's tough all over, so don't feel too too bad. I think you really have a talent and can make some money with it. Especially sorry about your little bunny. Hey about the smoking thing. A couple of reasons to give that up. I just got back from my 33 year high school reunion. Class of 76. The difference between the smokers faces vs the non smokers was unbelievable. Smokers had aged so much more. They looked 20-25 yrs older than the rest of us. And the other thing, think of the money you will save. Cigs are so expensive. Occupy your hands with your drawings, they are fab!

What the h3ll are they going to do when the 'lie' is over... they are saying that they know what is best for us.. (fall in line now) and they are taxing it heavily so everyone quits this nasty habit... WELL... when that happens (if it does) and we all quit... the truth will come out... where the h3ll are they going to get all the taxes that they will NOT be getting from us smokers..! (Millions... )

I am not saying that smoking is good for you... of course not... but the government's hypocrisy is sickening... the government keeps thinking that they know exactly what is good for us... seems to me I read about this crap in history class... didn't work then either...

I'm not a smoker but my state is the top tobacco-producing state in the US so it brings a lot of revenue to NC. I see it this way: as long as you know the perils associated with smoking, I'm not going to preach. Sure I'd love for all of my friends to quit but I respect their choice; just like they respect my choice to not smoke. So they know they can't smoke in my house (but outside on the porch is ok) but I also know if I get in their car they're probably going to light up.

I agree Stringer about the hypocrisy of the government wanting to ban smoking and hiking the taxes so high in order to force you to quit BUT they don't have a problem spending the tax money they collect.

Ok sorry that I joined in on hijacking the thread... :o

They brought in what the called the "Alcopops Tax" here a while ago and it basically doubled the price of pre-mixed alcohol drinks to prevent teenagers from binge drinking...
You know what happened... all the teenagers started buying bottles of straight top shelf and drinking it because it was cheaper... FAIL
They then had to recall the tax because it was found out that the government never actually approved it!
There were millions of dollars they had collected that they never should have  bet you we will never see that money going to something good.

Have you ever seen a government tax... local, state or federal ever repealed? Maybe but one or two in what over 200 years.

Did you know that the federal income tax is a 'temporary tax' here in the U. S. Yep it was initiated in the early 30's I believe and it was intended for only 2 or 3 years to help with the depression. But... guess what it is still here and being raised constantly.. poor management, poor judgment and poor planning... So, how do they keep it alive? They have to vote to renew it every 2 or 3 years. And now, we are printing paper money like there is no tomorrow... great, now our kids and grandchildren will be paying for this forever. And trust me, they will also find new and 'better' taxes for them to pay in addition to all this...

Yeah, I know... more rage, is anyone in government even listening?

Well, we have almost the same thing Tick... when I lived in North Carolina I had a friend whose dad owned a bacca farm. At one point in the process they have to dry out the bacca so they leave it in piles on the ground. Everything that you can think of does their 'business' on these piles; birds, dogs, etc. And then it is bundled up and hung for additional drying... yep we are smokin' that stuff, along with some gunpowder to keep the bacca burning, ever see a cigarette 'spark?'

Guess I'll get us back on track...

I painted this Mickey montage for my son's bathroom; it goes around the entire bathroom. I taped off the edges for the blue and red lines and then painted all the little boots, gloves, and ears. Then went back and added the detailing. From start to finish, it took me about a month because I was doing it at night after he was sleep (plus allowing the coats of paint to dry). It's not perfect, but it was done out of love for my little boy. And I even wrote a special message to him behind the door. :)

Every night when I get him out of the bathtub he points the ears and says "Mee Mau". :o

LOL! I realized that later and was thinking "someone will correct me eventually" I always seem to miss the good threads until they're pages long.

Love this thread, just realized that I have never really hung out in the lounge

Love your guys'es artistic side! Personally I draw, but my drawings are too big to put into my scaner (A3 size) but I have some pics though.) This is the first one I made in the A3 format. The pens I use are Shinhan- twin touch- markers. (love the markers really smooth.) I Included some of the details.

The Drawing is for a friend of mine and She loves Alice in Wonderland, lol so I included my fave details.

That's amazing roxy!
I love the whole thing, her eyes, the butterflies, even the trees right down the bottom, beautiful work!
You colored that in with a marker? I'm going to have to get me some of those :D

roxypox
Aug 1, 2009, 09:44 AM
Thank you so much Shaz :D It took way way long time though. Took about 30 min to draw up the outlines, and then about 8-9 hours to fill in the color.

Yup! Great markers. There are several other great markers as well that are produced in Korea: On-the-run ink, shinhan's twin- touch, Tria (although the latter is not my favorit) have to use special paper though. Has to be bleed proof. Or else you loose a lot of the marker ink. :D

I also started on a series of pics about anti-heroes. Lol the hole idea started because a friend of mine and I both share the love of super-hero-movies. And he loves superman (which I see as kind of whiny. At least in the later movies. Ps: sorry if anyone is offended by that) ;)

Anyway, I made a drawing of superman gone bad ;) although I think his head is kind of tiny...

shazamataz
Aug 1, 2009, 10:01 AM
Haha, his head looks fine!!

I love it, He looks great but what really caught my eye at first was the buildings in the background, so detailed!

You do realise you have to post more right :D

Yup. It does get tiering lol after a couple of hours :p but its an entire A3 page filled to the edge. After this I've started to make some on the same size paper, but I but a nice square in the middle as a focus point. Which takes less time! LOL thankfully.

And yes! Check out the markers! Great great great! Hehe and I can post some more. Gosh there is one that I gave to someone at work. I didn't snap a photo of it though :( but It was prob my best ever! And when I go home (I'm vacationing at my parents house) I can see if I can snap some more photos and put them out.

This one I just called Duality. Or I should have called it Double Trouble. Another villans pic.

Roxy.. pics were great, keep posting! I always loved markers, wish I had time.. :(

Zoe.. You are beautiful! (I didn't realize that you were a Great Dane!):o

ZoeMarie.. The Tulips were perfect, you should blow it up and have it framed. They have another thing (don't know what it's called) but they take the picture and make it into a painting or such. It looks really cool and looks just like the photograph you took.

I am hopeless at being creative...
This is the most abstract thing I have ever painted (below) Our walls our grey and out kitchen appliances are red so I had to do something to match :D
I usually just stick to portraits.

My art teacher hated me because I wouldn't do anything 'artistic'
Sounds like it going to be very colorful when you finish it, are you doing it for anything special or just because you wanted to do a painting?

This is one of my glassworks. As you can see it is all stained glass and done in copper foil method with raised bead, already sold a long time ago. I do commission work but keep an on line diary in case I have to send my work to a prospective client.
The particular client I did this panel for was a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright. So this was my interpretation of his style, designed by me with a bit of an optical illusion. The glass doesn't really curve.

I am so happy to see so many artistic members here displaying their absolutely wonderful work. We should all get together for a showing !
