Ive been searching for this one forever and I can't seem to find it!

Ive got just a few very distinct memories of some scenes, it involves a young boy (around 20) a girl and a large darker skinned fella.

A lot of space travel occurs, I think earth is being invaded by aliens pretty similar to those small dune walkers in starwars. Anyway the aliens spacecraft are white and kind of brain shaped if you know what I mean.
A lot of gunfire (laser guns).

The memory I have that's probably most helpful is when they fly above the watersurface of a strange planet large wormlike creatures fly out of the water and extend spikes from their bodies.
Another memory is when the main character gains a power or something, a small dome shaped thing apperas on his hand, anyway I think its toward the end he rescues the girl and ride a spaceship into the alien mothership while holding the girl and screaming.

Sorry I forgot to mention it's a animated movie, my bad :)

Oh and one more thing, the animation style was very much like Daft Punks videos, that's what made me remember that movie in the first time.

I don't know about "Daft Punks", so I have no idea what the animation is like. I tried looking on YouTube, but nothing showed up looking like animation.
