I am just getting my rider mower running after two years sitting. I put in new gas, flush gas line, new gas filter, new plug, new oil, new oil filter. Would only start with starter fluid. I cleaned out carburator, drained gas, spray with carb cleaner, re-assembled. It starts now but only runs medium throttle and full choke. More throttle or less choke stops the engine. What is the problem? Is it carb? Will running a while with cleaner perhaps fix problem? New carb needed? This is a Briggs and Stratton 14.5 OHC Quiet Series engine. Vertical shaft. Purchased in 2000.

Is it carb? I cleaned out carburetor

Is there needle valves on the crab and one for fuel and one for air? They could be bad themselves in the carb.

It may just need a carb rebuild kit since its been sitting and or dirt In the carb ports.

Fuel pump here could be weak and is not out of the question.

I wouldn't get a new carb just rebuild what you have if you can't adjust the carb properly
