There was a movie that used to be shown a good amount. I remember it had a young man, around 18-25, that was sent into this obstacle course with other guys his age. In the course, they had to pass these guards in outfits that looked like kkk outfits, but black. These guards could not talk to them or help them, only raise a flag to show them which way to go. I know at one point the guards light a rope that the contestants had to climb on fire because someone cheated. I also remember the main guy made it all the way, what a surprise, but one of the last obstacles was a town that was full of crazy people. The started chasing him with pitch forks and flames on sticks etc. Just like a witch hunt. I do not remember much else as why they were doing this or what the prize was. I think it was set in an older time, because I remember them riding horses no cars. It was not modern houses, but old castle like buildings like in Europe, but not expensive like buildings. More like peasant type living every where. I know it was more or less some type of game that they were competing in. I remember the main guy having a rat tail or mullet type hair cut. I really don't even remember why I liked it so much, but I would like to see it again.

Thanks,
Tony

It's definitely Gymkata. Gymnastic dude is hired to play 'The Game' which is an obsticle course around this island. Route pointed out by ninjas with flags. His Dad played year before and failed to finish, as Richard Norton (evil dude) shot him on the rope bridge. Kurt Thomas is the hero, produced by Fred Weintraub. Which is funny as it's a crap ripoff version of the successful 'Enter the Dragon' he did with Bruce.
I grew up on this film, funny how rubbish things are when you get older. Great to watch though.

Hard to get hold of, not on dvd, you'll have to search US eBay as it was not released in the uk. (I got my copy on Ebay about 6 months ago for about £5.

Hope this helps.
