What happens when I set my hot water heater to vacation

Depends who designed and installed, Through your alarm panel?
I would maybe have it disconnect power, and close a hot water solenoid.
If on Vacation you could have Panel shut off Cold water supply, so you don't come home to a water soaked floor from a busted pipe, has happened.
