Can I use a new air handler with a 410 coil with my 7 year old trane ac unit. Can I update my ac unit later without any problems?

Yes it will work with R-22 but you will have to use a R-22 thermostatic expansion valve OR the flow rater/piston sized for the old outside unit and have a professional charge the system correctly.

Yes you can update at a later date to a new R-410A outside unit BUT you will have to flush all the old mineral oil use with the R-22 out of the indoor coil since it is not compatible with the oil used with R-410A and change the expansion valve or flow rater device to match the R-410A new unit outside.

This is just the basics and I suggest using a professional to make sure of proper operation.
