Hey !

I have a few computers on my network. I'm running winvista premium edition and I would like to connect to a desktop on my network that is running XP SP2.
I'm using tcp ip v 4 and I have disabled tcp ip v 6.
I installed the Microsoft Link-Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) Responder (KB922120) on the XP desktop.
The funny thing is there's another Windows vista laptop on the network and that one can both see and access the XP Desktop.
I can see the XP desktop in the network map but cannot seem to connect to it.
I can also see the other laptop that is operating with Vista and access it's shared folders.

I tried uninstalling my firewall, (Zone Alarm internet security suite) but no change so I reinstalled it. My computer does connect to the XP desktop if I ping the ip address.

Help Please.

Re-enable the v6

Make sure you have vista PC as private network and not public

XP and Vista - turn on windows firewall (if not on) and in exceptions, make sure you have file and print sharing checked

First thing to do with the XP machine is go through the Network Wizard - Choose the 2nd option on (2nd or 3rd) screen and keep clicking next till end. On last screen, choose last option and Finish
