I am 55 years old and did not realize until a few years ago that the name on my birth certificate is different than the name that I have been using my entire life. Everything is in my name that my godparent gave me, not is what is on my birth certificate. On my birth certificate my first name is the middle name I have always used. My first name that is on all of my legal documents is not on my birth certificate. Do I need to get my birth certificate changed? If so, how?

Are you having issues with proving your identity? In a lot of states, you're allowed to start using a different name rather than having to go to court to change everything over; if you last name is the same and you haven't had any issues, I wouldn't worry about it.

Nothing wrong legally now, but wondering about later in life, or death.

The same name that is on my drivers license. But not my birth certificate

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. If you've gotten by this long using the name you're using, I don't think it'll hurt to leave everything as is.
