I have a 93 Dodge Spirit, mint condition, 90,000miles. It runs hot. It has a new head gasket, new radiator, etc. What can I do to get it to run cooler? Thanks!

Hey lockinada,
While I'm no mechanic, I do know a little bit about cars. I even have a 94 spirit myself! I would advise you to talk to a trusted mechanic if you already haven't done so, and especially if your problem persists.
If your car runs hot, first of all you should check for leaks of antifreeze. Common sense dictates that if its leaking away, your engine won't have enough of the liquid to cool it down. Look for fluid leaks under your car, but understand that a little water may be condensation from your air conditiong system, if you were recently running it.
Next you should ask yourself what exactly you put into your radiator. If it was only antifreeze, your going to have problems. If it was only water, your also going to have trouble. For both cases the liquid in your radiador could boil and cause the engine to overheat. This is because the high temperature tolerances of an antifreeze water solution must be just that; part antifreeze, part water. Otherwise you lose the favorable properties of the substance that allow it to cool your engine. A 50/50 mixture of antifreeze/water is desired. I hope this helps you!

Ok. I know it's not the best answer but, if you just want to see the temp go down turn on the heater.
I wish I knew how much you know about cars. Have you listened for the cooling fan? Have you checked the fluids for things like water in the oil or vise versa?
I know you had the head gasket replaced but still mechanics aren't perfect.
Is it possible that you've become aware of the temp now that it's had to have a new head gasket?
I don't mean to insult you. I only speak from experience. It's something you get allot of with old cars. ;)
