I have a Luxaire forced air furnace. Model # G8T11516UHC11A. When my thermostat calls for heat the system turns on. The blower is operating but the heating element never gets hot or ignites. I tried changing the filter thinking there was a sensor when a filter is clogged. That did not work. When you pull off both panels, on the bottom to the left of the filter hanging off the blower there is a circuit board and there is a blinking red light. Is that an indication that something is wrong?

Yes what number is it flashing? The codes will go from 1 to 8. also does your furnace have plastic vent or metel. I have worked on luxairs for 15 yrs and wound love to help you. Also the info for the fault codes will be on the back of one of the furnace doors, or on the contol board its self. Odds are it is flashing 4 or 5

There are no numbers, just a flashing LED. However on the back panel it indicates what may be the problem depending on how many times the LED is flashing. Mine is flashing 4 times and it states that High Aux. or Spiull Limit switch open.

Now what?

OK that is the high limit switch. Was your filter dirty when you changed it?

It should be on the upper left, or upper right of the furnace. Above the gas valve and burners.

This limit is supposed to reset its self. How ever if it gets to hot sometimes it will not. Turn the power off to your unit. Then take a screw driver and tap the switch between the two wires this will usually free the switch. Then turn your power back on and see if it is working correctly

Now all I have to do is identify the switch. I have a service technician here and he says all the switches he can find are closed.

If they are all closed reset the power and try the unit
