Hello all, I am currently searching for my birthmom. I was adopted when I was 19days old. And all I know is my name before I got adopted and the hospital I was born. I live in ny and currently 20years old. If anyone know anything that can help me, I would strongly appreciate it. This is very hard for me and I need help badly. I have a 3yr old son and I just want to know how I came about. I don't have any money to pay private investigaters and just looking for free help basically. Thank you in advance.:)

1. Ask your adoptive parents for as much information as they can give you.
2. Contact the adoption agency and ask if you can leave your contact information if a birthparent comes looking for you.
3. Contact the courthouse in the county where you were born and ask if you can leave your contact information for a birthparent if they come looking for you.
4. Register on reunion websites such as adoption.com, adoption.org and ISSR.
5. Get counseling. Remember that your birthparents may not thank you for finding them--they may have lives that have moved on from the point of your birth. They may have family that does not know of your existence. If there is no medical reason, then I would suggest moving forward slowly and cautiously, with all initial contact happening between a third party.
Look--I hope you find your birthparents! I am a birthmom, and hope my daughter looks for me when she is 18. However, not all birthparents want a reunion, and you have to be prepared for this eventuality.
