Hi,

I have not dyed my hair for about 6 months. I am trying to leave it alone to get it back to its natural color because I have been dying it for a few years. The dyed hair is very similar in shade to my natural color but with a lot of reddish brassiness left over from the auburn color it used to be.

I really don't want to dye my hair to correct it since I already have over an inch of regrowth but would really like to get rid of the red. What can I do to get the last bits of color out of my hair?

Thanks,

Hi,I'm a hair consultant. You have 2 choices to get the red out. Corrective color, or cutting it. I can not determine what kind of corrective color you need unless you live around palos,Il. But any hair stylist or color specialist can advise you what you would need to do exactly. Some stylists may not tell you because they want you to cometo them. Maybe you have a friend in the business or a hair school nearby if money is an issue. Doing a corrective color can be costly in a salon. If you used permanent hair color its on your hair until its cut off. That takes time to grow. So if you have long hair, make the sacrifice and get rid of the color. Talk to your stylist, tellthem what your objective is and find out what the best solution would be.

Temporary colors like Roux Fanci-Ful rinses, can be used until your hair grows out. They wash out with each shampoo so you have to use it often. If you don't want to dye it, this is one option.

If you're willing to live with a little bit of color, you can use a demi-permanent (one type of semi-permanent) to try to color it.

I suggest a temporary hair coloring or simply waiting until it grows out.
