Hmmm. Why not come clean with your mum, if he is not like the others, and he is as sweet as you say.

Its your life, wait how old are you?

IF you are old enough to be out on your own, then it's your life, and she can either love you for who you are, or disprove of you for how you meet a "nice guy".

As for your friends, "An insincere and evil friend is more to be feared than a wild beast. A wild beast may hurt your body, but an evil friend will wound your mind. Avoid all hottie, conceded proud and arrogant minds. And remain peaceful and subdued."-Buddha

DOn't take it the wrong way, but your friends don't sound like very nice, or at least wise people. Why listen to a fool, or rude person?

How long have you known him?

In this case, I suggest that you get to know him better to make sure that you're actually serious with him before bringing it up with your mom.

Let's say you've dated for 2-3+ years before telling your mom, then who really cares how you met in the first place. But if you guys were only dating for a few months, then it can sound sketchy to your mom.

And you will be able to explain to your mom that you didn't tell her about him earlier because you wanted to make sure that it was serious.
