Massachusetts Law - Question on how to terminate a guardianship.
Woman from Honduras has a daughter married in Massachusetts. Woman in Honduras suffers a stroke and has a ten year old boy. She asks the daughter to take guardianship over the boy and the woman comes to Massachusetts to stay with her daughter. Guardianship is granted to the daughter. The Mother (woman from Honduras) fully recovers from the stroke and now wants to revoke that guardianship and take her 10 year old son back to Honduras with her. Can the people involve do this themselves or is an attorney needed? Can a guardianship be revoked in a circumstance such as this. Thank you, legaleagle

Who issued the guardianship, Massachuset or Honduras ?

Assuming Massachuset, then a lot will also depend on how they set it up, and if all the parties agree to it.

And I am not sure that the guardianship would even be reconised in Honduras and that there is anything stoping her from just taking the daughter and going back.

But I would use an attorney

Five years ago my husband and I took guardianship of then foster child. Now at 15 yrs he has been verbally and physical abusive. He wants to leave my home and we want to terminate the guardianship! What steps can be taken .

Contact the Agency that placed him with you, explain that you are giving up on him and want to return him.

Explain that something went wrong in the last 5 years.

(I guess it's just like taking damaged merchandise back to a store.)
