Hi, Im 27year old MALE and am single. My family is in a bind.
To sum it up:
MY sister passed away a few months ago-left her only child behind(shes 10yrs). Her father is in his 50's and is in jail.
My niece is living with my grandmother. Her grandmother is going to jail soon.
My question is what can I do to give my niece a better home?
I have a job, just graduated last year with an associates degree. I have the support of my Best Friend. I am a loving parent to my niece and the stable person in my family. I have spoken numerous times to my mother and have explained that in case of "anything" that I will take custody of my niece.
I AM LOST. I would appreciate it if I knew where to go for custody. I am not sure about having the monies for a lawyer?
I would appreciate it if someone can guide me with a checklist on what to do.
