I have just purchased a new Honeywell TH8321U1006 - VisionPro Thermostat (w/ Dehumidification Control). I expected the Installation Manual to give some "Best Practices" for mounting location, but it did not. I have a 2 story home in Houston, Texas with a single A/C unit. I purchased this specific unit for it's humidity feature, i.e. if the temperature is OK, but the humidity goes above pre-set value, the air conditioner will come on and reduce the temperature 1-2 degrees, automatically!! I am hoping this device will reduce/solve my wife's sensitivity to getting HOT! Guy's if you know what I mean! My current thermostat (standard digital CTC brand) is upstairs 6-8 feet from cold air return. There are 2 reasons I am considering mounting this new unit downstairs: 1) It will make it more accessible for my wife to lower the temp "when" needed. 2) Humid air is heavier than dry air and as such, the humidity sensor should be located in the most humid location. Of course, I will still need to locate it in an area downstairs that has a good sampling of air temperature/humidity. Please help! My marriage depends on it!

Residential stats are normally mounted on an interior wall not close to a window, heat duct, return air duct or anything the produces heat like a fireplace or refrigerator. You will likely still face the same problem , if you know what I mean.
